The donor hair in the back of the scalp is shaved and a local anesthetic is injected. The FUs are created individually by the Robot, removed manually and placed into dishes filled with a cold preservative solution.
After the grafts are prepared, the bald scalp is outlined and injected with a local anesthetic. Placement is made by nicking the scalp with varying sized needles, and the 1 to 4 hair FUs are inserted into the tiny openings.
Usually, a pressure dressing is applied that is removed the next morning. The short transplanted hairs fall out over the next few weeks (transplant shock), and regrowth starts sometime around the third month post-transplant.
